Protect PDF

Encrypt your PDF with AES-256 military-grade encryption. All processing happens in your browser.

How it works

Your PDF is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your password (PBKDF2, 100,000 iterations). The encrypted file downloads as .pdf.enc. To open it, use the with the same password.

Remember your password

There is no way to recover your PDF if you forget the password. Store it safely.

Looking for native PDF open-password protection?

Standard PDF encryption (the kind Adobe Reader asks for) requires server-side processing. This will be available with PannaPDF Pro — coming soon.

Protect Your PDFs with AES-256 Encryption

PannaPDF's Protect tool encrypts your PDF files using AES-256-GCM, the same encryption standard used by banks and governments. Your password is strengthened using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations, making brute-force attacks impractical. All encryption and decryption happens in your browser — your files and passwords are never sent to any server.
